We accept Medicare for repairs on power chairs and we are also contracted with the V.A.! (Veterans Association)
Most PPO Insurance will cover New Power Chairs although certain rules and restrictions may apply. Please contact us or visit us for more details.
Medicare Repair Requirement: The Doctor’s Visit
If American Mobility Center did not initially supply you with your Power Chair- purchased through Medicare, then the good news! Then next step is meeting with your doctor to obtain a written prescription with all the repair parts listed that are necessary to repair your Power Chair including your diagnosis. Medicare requires a doctor’s prescription for any repairs done with no exceptions. The physician must also be registered with PECOS in order for Medicare to consider payment on all repairs. Your Medicare insurance information is required in order to verify eligibility and benefits. We do not accept Medicare HMO’s for repair.
Veterans Association (V.A.)
American Mobility Center is more than Honored and Proud to be contracted with the V.A. to service our military Vets!! We do Deliveries, Pick up, Repairs, Service and Lift Installation on vehicles through the V.A.. All lift installs on vehicles are done on site, in our shop located in Oceanside, CA. Any other repair services are done at the veterans residence. In the event that a repair cannot be done at veterans place of residence, the equipment will be brought back to our shop. If the veteran does not have back up equipment, please inform our staff and a loaner chair/scooter will be provided for the duration of repair (all repair times will vary). Veterans who require service or repair must be registered with the V.A. in order to receive service. Requests that are called in to American Mobility Center will be forward to the wheelchair repair department at the V.A.. No service will be provided until approval of service is received from the V.A. first (approval may take up to 3 business days).
If you have any new equipment or supply requests’, the veteran must contact the V.A. directly themselves. Unfortunately we cannot do this for you. Please contact your Primary Care Physician with any requests other than repair on existing equipment.
Services, installations and deliveries are scheduled Monday through to Friday between 9am and 5pm. There are no exact times of arrival or appointment times set due to any unexpected or unforeseen delays in the service route.
In the event of an emergency repair call, a technician will be dispatched once management determines if the nature of the call is in fact – a true repair emergency according to V.A. guidelines.
If you feel your life is in danger or need to seek medical attention immediately, please hang up and dial 911. We do not transport patients and are only a repair service for equipment.
Medicare Changes
Due to the changes Medicare has implemented effective July 1, 2013, we can only do repairs on Power Chairs that were purchased through Medicare and cannot supply any new power mobility, equipment or supplies. Any one with Medicare who wishes to receive a NEW Power Chair or any additional equipment or supplies, must contact the 1-800-Medicare number located on their Insurance card. You will need to ask Medicare for your county/state CONTRACTED competitive bidding provider and Medicare will direct you to the appropriate provider of service.
